Critical server outage

We would like to inform you that we are currently experiencing issues affecting OITNet services, as well as general internet connectivity across the environment.

Our team has identified the disruption and is actively investigating the root cause. We are working diligently to restore full-service functionality as quickly and efficiently as possible. At this time, there is no estimated resolution; however, all efforts are being prioritized to minimize the impact on daily operations.

I am writing to share an update on the status of our networking systems. Since yesterday, our systems have been impacted by a major server outage.

As I noted in our previous email, the nature of the problem has been identified. The OIT team has been working continuously to remediate the issue and bring our systems back online and we have also brought on consultants to bolster these efforts with an eye toward efficiency, security, and speed.

That being said, we do not have a current estimate as to when full service will be restored. We understand that this outage has been frustrating for users. Please be assured that we are putting every possible resource into our efforts.

At this time, we are actively restoring OITNet wired access for several sites. Progress is expected on this front throughout the day.

We encourage you to report any matters outside of the scope of the server outage as you normally would, particularly matters related to SPAM or Phishing attempts.

If you have any questions or need to report any issues, please contact the help desk at [email protected]. All requests will be processed as soon as possible. Response times may be delayed.

If you are experiencing either a limited or full work stoppage as a result of this matter, please speak with your immediate supervisor to discuss temporary solutions.

Good afternoon. 

The OIT team and our consultants are continuing to remediate connectivity issues related to the recent server outage. Steady progress is being made, and we are committed to restoring full functionality for all users as soon as possible.  

We are taking this opportunity to install various planned improvements and patches to individual computers over the next several weeks.

Help Desk Technicians will be reaching out to set up times to install these updates.  We appreciate your continued patience and flexibility. Additional updates will be shared when possible.

I am writing to share a progress update on our work to restore full network functionality. The OIT team, with the assistance of our consultants, continues working to bring the system back online for all users. 

The following internal services have been restored.

  • Internet service
  • Printing
  • Scan to email
  • Websites (in progress)
    • We have taken this opportunity to bolster our website hosting. 
    • The team has started the process of restoring website availability on our new hosting provider. 

We will be working through the weekend to make more strides for complete restoration of our systems.
